With all of the Thanksgiving Festivities, you can get pretty tired of turkey and mashed potatoes pretty quickly. And with the go to leftover recipe being turkey sandwiches year after year, who can really blame you for wanting something new? I've pulled together 20 recipes that give you some ideas for all your Thanksgiving leftovers that aren't the same old sandwiches.
1. Thanksgiving Casserole
Leftovers: turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, and stuffing
This Thanksgiving Casserole is the mother of all thanksgiving leftover recipes. This uses just about everything that showed up on your table yesterday. If you want quick and easy, that’s exactly what this is.
2. Turkey Pot Pie
Leftovers: Turkey, Pie Crust, Green Beans, Peas, and Carrots
Another catch-all recipe. This pot pie uses your meat, your vegetables, and even the pie crust left over from your desserts.
Leftovers: Turkey, Gravy, & Cornbread Dressing
These turkey dressing meatballs look SO good. They’re such a versatile food, working in a sandwich, with pasta, or even on their own. This is the perfect way to turn your leftovers into a completely new food.
4. Turkey Stock:
Leftovers: Turkey Bone
I actually love being able to use everything from a meal! Using the bones to make stock is the perfect way to put every part of your Thanksgiving meal to use.
5. Turkey Wild Rice Chili:
Chili is such a perfect cold weather food so what better to use your thanksgiving leftovers on?! This chili looks SO good I almost don’t even need leftovers to try it.
6. Stuffing Muffins:
Leftovers: Stuffing and Turkey:
This works great with turkey but even better with your Thanksgiving ham. This muffins are a super flexible recipe that you can switch up to fit whatever leftovers you have and want to add!
7. Turkey Tortilla Soup:
Tortilla soup is one of my favorite foods so the fact that I can make some out of my Thanksgiving leftovers is probably the most exciting thing I’ve heard in a while honestly.
8. Turkey Cranberry Enchiladas:
Leftovers: Turkey, Cranberry sauce
Definitely not a recipe I would have thought of for leftover Thanksgiving food, but a pretty dang good one. I love that it’s a completely new type of food that you’re turning your basic Thanksgiving food into.
9. Shepherds Pie:
Leftovers: Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Roll Dough, Green Beans, Corn, Gravy
I know that I had the pot pie already, but this Shepherd’s pie is another great catch all recipe that you can use to really use up any and all of your leftovers this Thanksgiving.
10. Cran-Apple BBQ Pulled Turkey Sandwich:
Leftovers: Turkey, Cranberry Sauce, Apple Sauce, Gravy, Rolls
I’m actually so intrigued about this recipe. If anyone makes this, PLEASE let me know because it sounds so so good. (I’m a sucker for BBQ anything if you can’t tell).
11. Ham and Potato Soup:
Leftovers: Ham Bone, Potatoes
I agree with the Ham >Turkey side of the argument, so I support anyone interested in these recipes. This is another recipe that uses the bone so obviously I’m loving it.
12. Freeze Ham
Not only does this site have multiple ham recipes, it has directions on how to freeze ham, which is honestly something I somehow never thought of. Definitely one of the best idea for how to keep that leftover ham for an extended period of time.
13. Chicken Pot Pie:
Leftovers: Chicken, Potatoes, Corn, Carrots, Puff Pastry
Chicken’s a bit untraditional of a Thanksgiving dinner, but couldn’t leave those of you out who favor it over turkey (and I can’t say I don’t agree with you). This chicken recipe doesn’t only use up you leftover chicken, but just about everything else you had leftover for dinner too.
14. Chicken and Dressing:
Leftovers: Cornbread and Rolls
While rolls are great for sandwich bread, here’s a recipe that utilizes them for something other than turkey sandwiches, as I promised!
Leftover: Cranberry Sauce
15. Pie Milkshakes & Cranberry Granola Breakfast:
Leftovers: Pie, Cranberry Sauce
While my family has never been big on the cranberry sauce, this recipe is not wrong when it says its one of the most versatile leftovers you can get. On the other hand, I will be promptly trying this shake as soon as I finish this post because my family is obsessed with pie.
16. Pumpkin Puree Storage:
Leftovers: Pumpkin Puree
This article talks about storage of pumpkin puree, both in the refrigerator and freezer. It also has a ton of recipes of various things you can make with small amounts of pumpkin puree.
17. Churro Bites & Pigs in a Blanket:
Leftovers: Pie crust
I love everything cinnamon sugar, so these Churro Bites sound heavenly to me. Also who doesn’t love the classic pigs in a blanket? Both are incredibly easy recipes to make with your leftover pie crust.
18. Cinnamon Sugar Cookies:
Leftovers: Pie Crust
I never realized how versatile pie crust was until now honestly. I might have to start buying it just to make these cookies….
19. Leftover Wine Options
While there’s never really any leftover wine in my house, in case you ever have that problem here’s some ways to use it up!
Hoping these recipes give your days after Thanksgiving a little better dishes!
